The Small Software Business Alliance has sent two letters to Congress encouraging them to fix Section 174 so that software development and other research and development expenses are fully expenseable for tax purposes.
On March 6th, 2024, we sent a letter to Senate leadership urging them to swiftly pass HR 7024, The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, which contains relief for domestic R&D expenses for 2022-2025. That letter was signed by 1,171 small software businesses in all 50 states.
On April 18th, 2023, we sent a letter to Congress urging them to take action and make software development and R&D expensable again. That letter was signed by 594 small software businesses in all 50 states.
